Sand Play Saturday will return to the Railyard Park Children’s Play Area this year, from 10 a.m. to noon from May 25 to Aug. 10. Railyard Park Conservancy volunteers and early childhood specialists will facilitate play for kids of all ages with sand, water, toys, kitchen utensils and funnels. Thanks to a kind donation, this summer will also feature a new fleet of Tonka trucks for playing in the sand.
A few special 2019 Sand-Play Saturdays will be hosted by local organizations and schools. The New Mexico School for the Deaf taught toddlers and their families a little sign language on June 15 and will return on June 29. On other Saturdays, there will be opportunities to learn about local preschools, early-childhood organizations and Mommy Meet-Up groups in our area. Visit www.railyardpark.org/sand-play-saturday/ for a schedule.
While sand play is a great way for toddlers to stretch their imaginations, no kid is too old to create giant lava-flowing volcanoes or elaborate tunnel systems. Sand Play Saturday is a great way for the whole family to spend some time outside, playing, learning and exploring together. See you in the sandbox!
