A Santa Fe parent and resident for nearly 20 years, Hare has served on the board of numerous local cultural and youth organizations and has professional experience in both the private and nonprofit sectors. He recently served as chief operating officer for the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City.
“The last two years we have focused on strengthening SFCM’s foundation," said board chair Sally Mittler on behalf of the museum’s board of directors "and with Michael’s unique skill-set we are now prepared to flourish. Michael’s wealth of experience and demonstrated leadership as well as his commitment to the Santa Fe community ensures SFCM’s success as we continue to move forward and evolve.”
“It is an honor to join the Santa Fe Children’s Museum, an organization that is integral to our local community, beloved by generations of children and close to the hearts of so many,” said Hare. “I am excited to help SFCM reach its fullest potential while retaining the spirit of its inspiring, grassroots beginnings. Most importantly, I am eager to expand on SFCM’s mission as an educational institution, offering Santa Fe families a wide range of opportunities to learn, play and prosper.”
The Santa Fe Children’s Museum is a nonprofit organization offering interactive exhibits, education, programming, and support for New Mexico children and their families, as well as a robust visiting population. The longtime friendship between SFCM and Tumbleweeds was honored at the museum this summer on "Friendship Day," August 2, part of the museum's Year of Celebrations to commemorate its 30th anniversary. Activities including making friendship bracelets and friendship bowls.
